Cedric and Shana’s journey is one for the books! Their love story, filled with divine timing and God's grace, brought us together for an engagement session at the stunning Tarrant County Courthouse in Fort Worth, TX. As a Dallas-Fort Worth luxury wedding photographer, capturing this couple’s unique connection against the historic and picturesque backdrop of the courthouse was an absolute joy.
From the moment we met, it was clear that Cedric and Shana’s relationship was built on faith, laughter, and a deep bond. They describe themselves as “fun and quirky,” always laughing and enjoying each other’s company—even in comfortable silence. Shana is the outgoing one, while Cedric’s laid-back, easygoing nature brings a perfect balance to their relationship.
Their engagement session was filled with fun and love, but also with a touch of elegance and class—just as Shana envisioned. As a couple, they love to dress up, and Shana wanted to capture both their playful side and their “grown-folk” classy element. Inspired by sleek, elegant black outfits she saw on my Pinterest, we created a session that reflects their style and personality.
A Love Built on Faith and Trust
Cedric and Shana’s love story is nothing short of adventurous. They met on Snapchat two years ago, flirted for a while, but the timing was never quite right as both were in and out of relationships. However, by June 2024, they were both single, and it felt like God's perfect timing. When Cedric’s birthday rolled around in July, Shana invited herself on his trip to Chicago—where they met in person for the first time. What started as a spontaneous trip quickly turned into a whirlwind romance. Shana even met Cedric’s family in North Carolina, and she knew right then that he was the one.
Within three months, Cedric had relocated to be with Shana, and they were preparing for marriage, navigating challenges together while trusting God’s plan. Cedric’s move, after 17 years of building his barbering career, was a huge leap of faith, but they’ve stood by each other, confident that God will provide.
Capturing Their Engagement at Tarrant County Courthouse
The Tarrant County Courthouse is one of my favorite places in Fort Worth for luxury engagement photography. Its stunning architecture, elegant staircases, and classic charm provided the perfect backdrop for Cedric and Shana’s engagement session. The session combined their fun-loving personalities with sophisticated, romantic moments, showcasing both the playful and soulful sides of their relationship.
Throughout the shoot, it was important to capture Cedric’s easygoing nature and his bright smile. Shana wanted photos that would bring out their personalities, and I made sure to mix in both lighthearted, fun poses with more intimate, romantic ones. One of the key elements was highlighting their physical connection since their love languages include physical touch and acts of service. They were comfortable with public displays of affection, making it easy to capture natural, candid moments.
Despite the short notice and Cedric’s shoulder injury, which limited his movement, they trusted me to make the session comfortable and fun. It was an honor to bring out the best in them as a couple, and I can’t wait for their wedding day at Westside Baptist Church!
Trusting in God's Timing
